Selma Merbaum, too, felt the magic of the acacia. In her poem "Midmorning" we read:
"The old acacia trickles her silence in aquivering snarl of leaves. The scents of the earth arise and climb and decend again to me.

I remember very well Acacias, as well as the Lilacs (Flieder), not to speak
of the Chestnut trees (Kastanien Baeume) from the time we lived there. I
didn't know the Acacias were imported
