I spoke today with my Mother's 93 year old cousin who lives in Manhattan. He
told me that he was taken from Czernowitz in 1943 by the Russians and sent
to a concentration/work camp in Asia. I asked what the name of the camp was
and he said what sounded like "Tushcan”, then a momentary silence before he
said, I believe, Kazakh.
I checked out

scrolling down to 1943 in the left column, but I am not sure if Kazakh is
the place he was referring to.
Does anyone on this List know anything about "Tushcan" or the name(s) of a
concentration/work camp(s) in Asia near the Russian border with China that
CZ Jews were sent to in 1943?
