Christian, I understand and appreciate your photos.
There are no Black and White pictures , They are not possible.
We speak of gray-shade pictures.
There are over 50 shades of gray.

Maybe more.

Dear Hardy,

a pure black indeed does not exist in nature - as well as there is no precise circle in nature. As you, I grew up with black and white photos; therefore I associate them with memories and commemoration - and commemoration is a topic in my pictures. Analogue photography from films always creates a certain atmosphere - like a vinyl record always sounds different than a CD or mp3 download.

Yes, stones are missing in many places, and your mother would be right with her statement. On other places stones appear again from constuction grounds - often a puzzle that nobody will put together. But here they are and remind us.

Warm wishes,
Christian

Betreff: RE: [Cz-L] Bukovina in Black and White Thanks Christian for your work.
Is Black and white the color fit for tombs ?
I don’t mind any color as it appears in nature.
Tombs are a sad story anyway,
Missing tombstones is even sadder.
The cemeteries that have no stones are there.
The tombs are there ,the stones are missing.
My mother would say to this :
Das ist eine Gemeinheit,
And I would add :
" Das ist nicht nur eine Gemeinheit sondern eine Schweinerei !"

Dear all,

So far 2015 was a busy year, four times I have been to Ukraine, once to Romania. For the first time in my life, I feel like I have traveled too much. For months I was not able to edit the black and white photos of my journeys properly. Now I’m happy to be home and finally have time to work on the photos. Here is a selection of black and white images of the journey through Bukovina in April:

Best wishes,
Christian
