Anna was Jewish and so where some 50% of the communist activists in
the 1930th and 40th. You are mistaken about their social origin.
There were of course some that came from poor families but also many
who had parents who belonged to middle class and even to the
economically well to do. It was the ideology of socialism and
communism that attracted most of them and many suffered first from
Romanian political persecution and later from the terror of the soviet
regime itself. Only a few managed to compromise within the so called
communist regime and their ideals of it.[Berti Glaubach]
