Were the Jews in cities/ shtetels permitted the use of arms or military

Were they busy barely making a living for the most part ?
Were the rich ones angstvoll that they were to be attacked=2C were not

rewarded as vanguards of the local/national culture ?
Were they brought up with the vision and encouragement to one day join

r "revolution" ?
Were they stupid ? Certainly not.=20
Israelis are brought up prepared and ready for aggression=2C to fight=2C
to=
 enter military service=2C to have weapons=2C to be trained in all=20
manners of fighting. For sure any attempt of the jews of mid Europe to
even=
 talked about this would have led to jail and worse.=20
