Among my ANNO discoveries (thanks to Edgar) was a very simple, three line e=
ngagement announcement for my great aunt and her husband-to-be in a 1910 ed=
ition of the Czernowitzer Allgemeine Zeitung. The very small ad was on a pa=
ge full of others that appeared to be for commercial enterprises, some with=
elaborate graphics.
Although I could read the two names, I wasn't aware it was an engagement an=
nouncement until Hardy translated it for me.
I seem to recall that many of the Czernowitz obituaries that Edgar previous=
ly posted were from dedicated obituary pages but wonder whether engagement,=
wedding, and birth announcements were treated differently?
