Dear Fred,

The city authorities are not particularly interested in having a general Je=
wish museum,
Nor in having a museum of the holocaust.
There currently reside in Czernowitz/Chernivtsi, only about 1500 Jewish peo=
ple
And most, if not all of them, are the descendants of Jews who moved
To Czernowitz after 1944.

We, former Czernowitzer Jews and their descendants have no clout with the c=
ity authorities
and it was not easy to get even the little space which the city a located t=
o the Jewish museum.

Until the laws in the Ukraine change, so that former communal property is r=
eturned
To the religious or ethnic groups it belonged to before WW2, we are at the =
mercy of
The city authorities and the few people to whom these authorities mighty li=
sten.
I repeat: Write to Joseph Zissels. You can also try and write to the mayor,
But you need to be able to demonstrate that the city would benefit from hav=
ing
A museum of the Holocaust In the center of the city, rather than in the old=
 "Leichenhalle".

And more: Should it be more expensive to build a museum of the holocaust in=
 the city,
Than to build one in the burial building, who and how will raise this money=
?
