Subject: Re: Project for renovation building at Jewish cemetery in Chernivtsi

Dear All!

I agree to the majority of previous writer comments about the importance of solutions in formal and organizational questions for the project and I hope there will be a way to find appropriate concepts and answers .
In my opinion, only a wide based and practical agreement in those questions will support the necessary rescue and a sustainable existence of this important object.

Beside that, I want to stress the technical fact, that time and the processes of decay are still rapidly working against the stability of the building. Together with architect colleges form Chernivtsi an the helping initiative of Helmut Kusdat, consul Sergji Osatuschuk and others, a very detailed concept for a basic reconstruction was already worked out 2 years ago, but had to be stopped because of budget reasons.

Its really time to set actions now, to start at least with fundamental restorations ( roof, water drain, etc.) - failing this, we will have to face the further and rapid loss of building structure with increasing costs on future reconstructions. A basic amount of about $ 150 -250 T would enable to stabilize the most endangering topics.

Our common aim should be to remove this building-patient as soon as possible form the "emergency room" - after that we will have the chances to find answers on further questions.

Since many years a lot of committed people are trying to bring on this project. I am very glad about this recent initiative an i hope that we all together can manage now to realize more and very concrete steps to preserve this significant monument.

Best regards !
