So if we are looking for our origins our Yiddish gives us away.
We have been living with Ruthenians for a long , long time.

Some other examples of Czernowitzerisch:
1. "Nye rubeh minyi toives" (do not do me any favors) literally:
do not work, from Ukrainian "rubotai" "minyi" - me, also from Ukrainian,
"toives" from Hebrew through Yiddish "toives" meaning favors.
2. "Nye beh nye meh nye kukuriku" Literally: not a sheep, not a goat, Not a
chicken. Meaning: a person who is not distinguished or remarkable in any
way.
3. "Strasheh nisht de gehns"- Do not kick up a fuss.
Literally: Do not frighten the gees.
Strasheh from the Ukrainian meaning "very much", nisht - not, from the
German through Yiddish "nicht"
and "gehns" also from the German through Yiddish.
