Hardy...
Are you really referring to the same conference program as I do? Please have a closer look at
http://ehpes.com/blog1/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Flyer-Small1.jpg
and easily you'll find out that the main lecture held by the conference organizer Gaelle Fisher, by the way, a fellow member of our List, reads as follows:
Between Liberation and Emigration: Bukowina-Jews in Post-war Romania
Wolf Moskovich from Jerusalem lectured on: "Images of Czernowitz in the Works of Some Modern Ex-Bukovinian Émigré Jewish Writers".
Most of the other lectures were directly or indirectly related to Jews and Jewish culture as well, even without mentioning "Jew" explicitely. Sorry, but your statement is unsustainable.

Hardy...
Although I'm understanding and partly sharing your feelings concerning the
Czernowitz Temple, your message is a compilation of completely different and
disjointed items:
MERIDIAN: The International Poetry Festival Meridian Czernowitz
<
http://www.meridiancz.com/de/> is one of the major annual events in
Czernowitz focussed on the germanophone lyric poetry, particularly
represented by Jews from Czernowitz. The roots for Meridian, even the
festival name itself, as clearly stipulated by the organizers, go back to
Paul Celan, Rose Ausländer, Josef Burg, Elieser Steinbarg, Itzik Manger and
others.
Anything else but "literary wizardry, using the Jews without mentioning
them"!
INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP: The congress "Bukovina and Bukovinians after the
Second World War" is nearly entirely focussed on the fate of the Bukovinian
Jews after WW2, as you may learn from the posting at our ehpes.com Blog
<
http://ehpes.com/blog1/2016/08/28/bukovina-and-bukovinians/>.
"Squeezing in the Jewish element" is far away from reality and using a
poster displaying the Czernowitz Temple for this workshop is anything else
but a "sacrilege"!
Not correct, not fair! Dozens of prominent people, among them many
researchers, artists, scientists from Israel, USA, Canada, Germany, etc. are
cooperating to make such outstanding events like MERIDIAN and the
INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP "Bukovina and Bukovinians after the Second World War"
possible.

The Temple is Jewish and will always be.
Using it for other purposes is sacrilege.
Squeezing in the Jewish element doesn't alter the position.
In all the posters no mention of the word Jewish - or is there ?
