Hardy,
You may be right that a memorial to the ghetto, is all the Chernivtsi
authorities will allow.
I, on the other hand am afraid, that once a memorial to the ghetto
exists in the city,
it may seem to both the authorities as well as to the Jewish community,
as if nothing else is necessary.
Of course, if the plans to have a Holocaust museum in what was the
Leichenhalle,
are realized, there will be in it, a memorial to the Czernowitz and
vicinity Jews,
who lost their lives and or freedom during the Holocaust.
Still a memorial in the city, for instance close to the Tempel, is
much more visible than
a memorial in the museum, particularly when this museum is outside
the city,
in the boundaries of a cemetery.
