Great story !
So, the mystery of the “Kraemer&Drach” picture in the Ehpes-collection is
solved. It looks like Bukowina, but it is placed in Vienna.
It was the timber business of Josef Drach & Jonas Drach & Maximillian
Kraemer. I have found them in the ANNO-newspapers archive for the years
1925-1930.
That means, that around 1927 there were 2 Josefs Drach from Czernowitz
living in Vienna. Questions:
1. Was the famous art dealer Josef Drach related to the timber dealers?
2. Where they related to the well-known French filmmaker Michel Drach
(b.1930 in Paris)?
