Dear Edgar,
Scanning the100 Bukovinian photographic plates will be a pleasant activity
in the cold winter evenings. ( you don't even need a dark-room)
I am sure there will be some surprising discoveries. Spannend !
As for your geologist friend and other compulsive collectors I recommend
Marilynn Gelfman Karp , who wrote:
"collecting is a calling; and those who are driven to collect unloved
objects are the purest collectors of all."
Look at her beautiful book:

Enjoy !
Wishing you and All friends on this List :
Happy Hanukkah and Happy Christmas !

Dear Irene,
Yes, the enigmatic lady was scanned from a glass negative plate. Using my
regular document scanner, for the time being the result is quite poor.
Currently I'm looking for an affordable option to get all about 110 glass
negative plates scanned by using a professional negative scanner. They all
were hidden in these boxes over about more than one century, most probably
never developed nowadays. Since at a first glance they show families,
farmers wearing traditional costumes, landscapes, steam locomotives, railway
stations, etc., I'm positive that we'll be able to identify - with a lot of
luck - scenes from Bukovina or at least a Bukovinian connection.
In any case I'm anxious to view the entire series, acquired from Adrian
Muraru. For all antiques lovers, like myself, here are 200+ photos from
Adrian Muraru's Chaos:

Browse and enjoy!
