As I mentioned previously, Edith Hubermann was Paul Celan's and my cousin. She was like a sister to me. We met many times while she lived in Israel. Her son, Gur is a professor
at Columbia University.

Edith Rones was, during the first Soviet occupation, active at the Komsomol group within the "5th Yiddische Mittelshul". This school was located at Austriaplatz, across the street of the NKVD Jail building and torturing cellars. Many many years l later I happened to see Edith waiting for her medical appointment at a medical clinic in Tel Aviv. She was already a married woman, changed her Last Name and became Edith Hubermann. I was very happy to see her after so many years. I also saw her in Czernowitz in June 2006, she was visiting our former neighborhood with two daughters.
