Czernowitzers...

Wanda left the following comment to our Ehpes Blog posting "The Radautz Vital Records Index Database 1857 – 1929":

http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=9845

"Thank you so much for sharing all your research with all of us, it has been so valuable to have your support and encouragement by posting all you have:). I do have a question though… would the surrounding smaller communities of Dornesti/Hadikfalva, Andresfalva and other small communities be included in these collections? If not would you have any suggestions where I could search? It would be so wonderful to find marriage information. Once again thank you so much:)"

Dear Wanda, thank you so much for raising this important question, which is of general interest. Well, the Romaian National Archives, Suceava branch, have published the (Romanian) inventory of available vital records:

http://hauster.de/data/ANRSuceavaStareaCivila.pdf

Some of the smaller communities metioned by you are listed there, but unfortunately not necessarily including the Jewish records. Focussing on "evrei" [Jews, rom.], at a first glance we get 8 hits:

Burdujeni Targ
Campulung Moldovenesc
Falticeni
Gura Humorului
Radauti
Solca
Suceava
Vatra Dornei

Radauti (Radautz) and Solca [+ Vicov] are included in our ongoing project, others, such as Campulung Moldovenesc, Gura Humorului and Suceava are included in the searchable Bucovina Vital Records Database

http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/Romania/BucovinaVRs.htm

again others are still waiting for research / digitization. Our Radautz / Vicov / Solca database (see above) is insofar exceptional, as we succeeded to combine the archival funds from the Romanian National Archives with those held by the Radauti Town Hall Archives and to implement them into a searchable database. I do hope these data were helpful to you.

Warmest wishes!

Edgar Hauster
