Dear Wanda,
Thanks for writing!
Glad to hear your insights into Romania and life in the Los Angeles area.
There’s an interesting post about Mayer Ebner on our Ehpes Blog:
http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=9198
Also, have you been in touch with Zlila Helman? Here’s something she
shared with the list last March:
******
I just received the following news from Zlila Helman:
"on 15 March will be at the Hebrew University a convention about
Bukovina... I attach my short film about Dr. Mayer Ebner"
See the following video clip from Zlila about her grandfather, Mayer Ebner:

Dear Mr. Hauster and Mr. Reisch
Thank you so much for your interesting e mail.
I am related through my maternal grandmother Rosa Ebner, to Dr. Mayer
Ebner. Dr Ebner was my grandmother's uncle.
My grandmother married a Jewish Romanian business man Lazar Kaufman. They
lived in Galati (Romania).
Dr. Mayer Ebner left Romania for Palestine(at that time) and since he was
such a known person in Romania, he was received
by the Jews in Palestine, with open arms. I believe, there is a street in
Tel Aviv named in his honor.
I was born in Bucharest in 1947 and I left Romania with my parents and my
maternal grandmother(Rosa Ebner) on January 11, 1965. My parents chose to
come to the States and we arrived on Sept 21,
1965 with the help of the Jewish Community Service to Los Angeles.
I am so proud to be in this country! This country gave me opportunities
that I never would have had anywhere else.
Thank you again and please keep me posted with all the news from Solca,
Radauti, Czernowitz. We had family in these cities. The Jews of Romania
are mostly gone and according to some information
there are approx. 3000 Jews left in the whole country.
FYI. The anti-Semitism in Romania is as ferocious as ever.
With respect
Wanda Lucaciu-Orenstein

Dear friends,
Birth, death and marriage records
are the primary source for genealogy and family history researchers,
providing valuable information and clues to an ancestor's or relative's
life.
Every society enlarges itself through
marriages. When you are tracing your family history, this information can
offer one of the most common missing links – a maiden name. All marriage
records include the full names of the bride and groom as well as the
marriage date and other additional information,
such as the names and birthplaces of each individual's parents. As part
ONE of an ongoing project - birth & death records will come soon - The
Radautz Marriages Database is a rich new web resource for Jewish heritage
in Bukovina:

http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=9845
http://www.reisch-family.net/SevenSealsLukePHP/SevenSealsMarriages.html
The Radautz Marriages Database contains
over 3,000 properly indexed marriage records for the period 1857 - 1929.
Our thanks go to Martina Lelgemann, who took care of the transcription,
and to Bruce Reisch, who developed The Radautz Marriages search engine and
website. Lucas Reisch provided php search
engine expertise.
Whether you are looking for an ancestor
or trying to find a lost classmate, marriage records can provide a link
to vital information and point you toward important clues. The free search
provided by The Radautz Marriages Database can jumpstart your research
project. Please check it out and let us
have your comments…!"
