Czernowitzers...
Our perception of Czernowitz is very much influenced by the way of seeing / thinking of our ancestors, by old family-owned photos, letters and much more. Let us mirror this view with a series of fourteen spectacular contemporary Czernowitz art photos, taken by local members / friends / visitors from abroad of GEDANKENDACH:
http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=9825
The first photo out of this series, taken by Kateryna Barylo at the Czernowitz Jewish Cemetery Mortuary, is labelled "The Custodians of the Past". All of us, our ancestors by their memories, ourselves, and all Czernowitz friends and visitors, we are "The Custodians of the Past"!
GEDANKENDACH [
http://gedankendach.org/], the Czernowitz based Ukrainian-German Cultural Exchange Society, does a tremendous job in preserving and imparting this cultural tradition.
