Dear Christian,

Thank you so much indeed for taking us along your journey. Quite cold, isn't it, but sensational nostalgic photos are your/our reward. In Mizoch (Misocz)

https://vanishedworld.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/mizoch-and-the-emptyness/

the inscription at the 1988 erected Holocaust memorial catched your eyes, "referring to ‘Soviet citizens of Jewish nationality’". That was already an improvement compared with earlier Soviet times, mentioning solely "Soviet citizens". On the other hand this kind of history falsification resulted very much from the Nazi doctrine, which insisted on the equality between Jewry and Communism.

We learn much more on this subject from Timothy Snyder's book "Bloodlands" and from his article "Holocaust: The Ignored Reality" published by the "New York Review of Books" on July 16, 2009:

Have a safe journey, dear Christian, and please keep us informed on your insightful discoveries!

Edgar Hauster

Subject: [Cz-L] Travelling in Galicia

Dear all,

Since Saturday night I'm in Lviv (Lemberg, Lwow) and explore the city and its surroundings. I have been to Lviv's oldest part, which is not the old town but a neigborhood north of it - for a long time a Jewish quarter (https://vanishedworld.wordpress.com/2016/12/06/old-lviv/). I also took the opportunity to visit Jakob Glazner Shul, one of the last remaining synagogues in the city (https://vanishedworld.wordpress.com/2016/12/07/inside-jakob-glanzer-shul/). And last but not least I have been to Mizoch (Misocz), a small town in Volhynia with a sad history (https://vanishedworld.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/mizoch-and-the-emptyness/). Some of you may be intersted in my reports.

Warm wishes from cold Lviv,
Christian
