[Cz-L] Yiddish

My mother grew up in Czernowitz between wars, speaking only German at
home. (Roumanian in school) She came from an upper middle class
household, and was proud of the fact that she learned yiddish after
marrying my father. He came from Bessarabia, and spoke only yiddish.

My grandparents came to Czernowitz after WWI from Galicia in Poland.
They spoke
Yiddish
German
Polish
Russian
Ukrainian

Although in Roumaina, 1918-1950, they never learned to speak it. I am
not sure they even understood it.
