There are about five hundred biographies of varying lengths in volume 5
of Zalmen Zylbercweig's "Lexicon of the Yiddish Theatre." This is his
memorial volume, dedicated to those who were killed or otherwise died as
a result of the Holocaust. To date I have translated eighty percent of
them. You can find links to these at
www.museumoffamilyhistory.com/yt/lex-biography-V5.htm, if you are
interested in reading them.

There are a number of biographies found within this volume that mention
Transnistria, i.e. these people were sent there. Most died there; some
survived. Perhaps there are other biographies in volume 5, which have
not yet been translated, which also mention this particular area/ghetto,
and of course I will mention them here as I find them, although I
probably won't be able to translate all of the remaining biographies, as
I have no one to help me, and there are far too many within these seven
volumes to translate.

Here is a list of those to date who are mentioned as having been sent to
Transnistria:

Born in Czernowitz:

Ari Furman (survived)
Ruth Meymon (survived)
Shlomo Zinshtein (survived)
Adolf Stein

Born in "Romania":

Tsili and Moti Leibowitz

Born elsewhere:

Gedalya Gurman (from Uman; a chazn)
Sammy Steinbach
