We were SO lucky!
After the CZ reunion in 2006, Donna and I toured Romania since she had never
been there and I left in 1945 at age five. Cluj was one stop on the tour --
where my parents had vacationed in the old days. I recall a plaque there
which I found on the net ---
"The Cluj Neolog Synagogue is dedicated to the approximately 18,000 Jews
from Cluj and surrounding areas who were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau
between May and June 1944."
We were saved in April while those poor people, 400 km from CZ, were taken
to be murdered in the two months following our liberation.
