Hi all,
I'm researching a relative named Sigmund Schmatnik. When I do a blog post
more than just a list of facts, I like to dig into a detail about the
person's life. In Sigmund's case, one of the facts I know about him is that
he was a 'Slefuitor'.
This translates to 'polisher'. Would this mean a metalworker, or a gem
cutter? A carpenter? I'd like to expound on what it was like to have this
job during this time.
Curious what list members know of this occupation and what resources I
could find on what the job was like during WW1 and WW2 Romania.
Bianca, if I had finished reading your lovely book, I might know, but I am
only halfway through!
Best,
Iris
