Seventy years ago today, on May 2, 1947, Paul Celan's "Todesfuge" appeared in Romanian language under the title "Tangoul Mortii", published by the weekly newspaper "Contemporanul" from Bucharest. On this occasion the leading German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" released a most enlightening article on the genesis and reception of this most famous poem:
