Czernowitzers...
A few days ago I reported on good things which are on the way in Bukovina by a German / Romanian working team focused on "Jewish Life Before, During and After the Holocaust":
http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=10088
On Sunday, subsequently to a trip by the narrow-gauge railroad from Marginea and after visiting the International Museum of Painted Eggs from Moldovita, during their visit at the Sucevita Monastery, the entire cash holday fund of the students (RON 4,000 = US$ 1,000) was stolen. Not that somewhere else it would be alright, but on the grounds of an UNESCO World Heritage cultural site...?! Shame on the thieves!

Czernowitzers...
Good things are on the way in Bukovina! In parallel to the maintenance works at the Czernowitz Jewish Cemetery effected by two international voluntary teams (SVIT, ASF) as reported earlier by Christian, another German/Romanian project just started. The working team “War Graves”, founded by Petra and Holger Klawitter at the European School Rövershagen implemented the project “Jewish Life in Radautz Before, During and After the Holocaust” in close cooperation with the Andronic Motrescu College from Radauti.

In Radauti the German team joined its Romanian counterpart and the entrire working team – assisted by Bondy and Sidi Stenzler set to work.Over the course of this very complex biennial project different suboperations will be effected, such as
- research works at the archives
- interviews with the local population
- maintenance works at the Jewish Cemetery
- installation of a memorial plate inside of the Temple
- presentation of a photo exhibition
- printing of a comprehensive bilingual brochure in German and Romanian.
Each and any assistance is highly appreciated.
On July 4, 2017 I had the privilege to meet Petra, Holger and a few of their pupils in Rövershagen, just before they left for Romania. Thank you all and I wish you success for your ongoing project.
