Hi Ronald,

In addition to Berti's message, please check for addresses and more the bilingual (ROM-ENG) edition of the book "Remembering the Jewish Cemeteries" released by FEDROM (Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania) in 2007 and available at our Czernowitz Book Corner:

http://czernowitzbook.blogspot.de/2015/04/memoria-cimitirelor-evreiesti.html

It's not unlikely that during my coming motorcycle ride to Ukraine and Romania I'm going to have a focus on the Bucharest Sephard Rite Jewish Cemetery too. Warmest wishes!

Edgar Hauster

Hi Ronald,

Sefard Jewish Cemetery in Bucharest
>From Wikipedia, free encyclopedia

The entrance of the Spanish Jewish cemetery in Bucharest
The Sephard Rite Jewish Cemetery, also known as the Spanish Cemetery,
is one of the three Jewish cemeteries currently existing in Bucharest.
[1] [2] Cemetery located on Giurgiului Street no. 2 was inaugurated in
1865, has an area of 4-5 ha and contains 10,300 graves [1] [2] [3] [4]

In the cemetery there is a part of the tombstones transferred from the
former cemetery on Sevastopol Street (the oldest Jewish cemetery in
Bucharest since the 17th century) that was abolished during the
Holocaust by the Antonescu regime. There is also an obelisk, a
monument in memory of the Sephardic Jewish soldiers killed for Romania
in the First World War. [1]

Among the personalities buried in this cemetery are: Haralamb Zinca,
Dan Mizrahi, Theodor Danetti, Alexandru Mandy, Sandu Sticlaru,
Antoaneta Ralian, Bitu Fălticineanu [11] , Elena Negreanu [12], the
composers Richard Stein, Mișu Iancu, Laurențiu Profeta, the publicist
and translator Alfons Adania, the writer and translator Veronica
Porumbacu.

To get this and much more information in Romanian just google:

And let google translate the articles
