Hi everyone,
When I started conversations with Jorge Schindler about how difficult it was
being for him to find the needed amount of proof about Samuel del Campo's
involvement in saving Jewish lives from Czernowitz (he worked with deported
to Czernowitz Polish Jews), I suggested to him that he contact our group in
general and Edgar Hauster in particular. I was so right! Through Edgar he
reached Marianna, who finally helped arrive at the name and documentation of
Mr. Rozental, not known before to Jorge Schindler. This made it possible to
incorporate Samuel del Campo into the list of Righteous among the Nations.
I want to thank Edgar again and also take the opportunity of expressing my
admiration for the group as such and each one of its members.

Thank you Edgar! Thank you Marianna! Thank you all!

Best regards,

Sally Bendersky

by the State of Israel

Czernowitzers,

It is with great satisfaction, that I'd like to share with all of you the
English translation of the message, which I received yesterday from Jorge E.
Schindler del Solar, First Secretary of the Embassy of Chile in Spain:

---
Dear Mr. Hauster,
With great pleasure I’d like to inform you, that the Chilean diplomat Samuel
del Campo has been recognized as Righteous among the Nations by the State of
Israel.
I’d like to say a big thank to you since it was your support by disclosing
information and resources which played a major role in this del Campo case.
Now I’d like to summarize the whole issue in a book, in which a prominent
place will be attributed to data and images from old Czernowitz. In this
context the assistance of the Czernowitz online community would be very
important.
With best wishes from Madrid.
---
Congratulations first of all to Jorge E. Schindler del Solar, who - with
great dedication and perseverance - leaded the Samuel del Campo case to this
well deserved success, as well to all others, who contributed to this
achievement, such as f. i. historian PD Dr. Mariana Hausleitner and others.
