Dear friends,

I hope you all had a great summer, and the holydays brought you peace and
comfort. For me they did more than that, as I had the time to work on one
of my personal genealogy projects: the Czernowitz BMD transcriptions. Its
with great pleasure that I share with you all the good news:

* The Czernowitz BMD Index Database search engine has moved and improved.
You can still use the old URL were I placed a redirection or take note of
the new one http://czernowitz.geneasearch.net/
This new search engine allows not only select a specific database to search
but also a sub-set of them by category or location. The "Surname" & "Given
Name" fields now search not only in the actual person, but also spouse,
parents, witnesses and any other mention in the record.

* Talking about locations, as the project started the "Czernowitz" concept
was intended to be use only for the city; but what we can do if we found a
lot of records from the county, so we add them as well. And then we keep
finding databases from other places in Bukovina, so we had to add them as
well, and you can filter the search by the location as well.

* The result page is more attractive and will give you now ALL the details
we have about the person, in a pop-up window that appear when you click the
"Detail" button on the left of the name. The results will be sortable by
any of the columns, just click on any title in the page and the list will
be ordered.

* You can still order records (actually only some of them) by clicking the
order button at the right of the name; but now you can also see and control
your shopping cart by clicking on the title of the column
"View Cart", this allows you to do consolidate orders as well.

* So why you can only order some of the records? Because I just added all
the databases and lists of people appearing in Edgar Hauster's blogs (
http://czernowitz.blogspot.com, http://radautz.blogspot.com,
http://radauti.blogspot.com/) MANY THANKS to Edgar for allowing me to use
his data and make it searchable as part of this project. These and some
material from other sources have no images and can not be acquired by my
researcher Banai Feldstein.

* And if we need to thanks people, I would not be able to do all this
without our wonderfull volunteers: Martina Lelgemann, Dale Prince, Yossi
Yagur, Maurice I. Kessler, Richard Gross, Yvette Pintar, Peter R. Elbau,
Ilana Avimor , Noam Silberberg, and many more.

* And Banai is not only my researcher, but also the tech person behind all
these great changes; she has helped me putting many hours into the code of
this new search engine, so MANY THANKS to Banai also.

Don't loose more time, the database currently holds 276,715 records
(130.000 more since the last update in July) and your family may be hidden
there, so start looking and keep me posted about your success.

PLEASE help us keep adding records, start transcribing at your best
convenience, any of the projects we have available in CSI :
* Bukovina Telephone Directory 1909

* Sadagura Death index 1886-1895 // Birth index 1921-1922
