These certificates can be obtained from the Municipality Archives. If you know somebody in Cz, he/she could
go there and request the certificate on your behalf. (As an alternative, I wonder whether you could approach the local Ukrainian consulate and request such a birth certificate - perhaps they can be of assistance).

This is what I did several years ago for my birth-certificate (I was borne in 1933) because, as an illegal immigrant to Palestine in 1947, we were ordered by the Mossad LeAlya Bet (the Hagganah's clandestine organization of the Illegal Immigration) to through into the sea all documents we possessed, to render it difficult for the British Authorities to send us back to Romania. We were on one of the large Hagganah ships (The Jewish State) immediately after Exodus 1947.

This was quite a real possibility - as we later found out - after the struggle at Sea and the capture by British destroyers, we were kept in the Haifa harbor for 3 days while our fate - return to Romania - was deliberated in London at the Highest Govnmt. level, who finally decided to send us to the Cyprus camps instead. I suppose - as result of the intervention of the Jewish Sokhnut as well as Jewish organizations in London.
