Hello Czernowitzer
My name is Anne-Marie Engel and I live in Washington DC
My family on both sides in originally from Czernowitz. My father emigrated
to Paris in 1929 to start medical school.. My mother joined him a few
years later. Their parents and siblings remained in Czernowitz-Cernauti. My
maternal grandfather and his son survived the war. All others perished. (
except two siblings on my paternal side ).
I just found three letters from my grandfather, written in 1942 and 1943
from Cernauti ( Sf Treimi) to my mother who was in hiding in Lyon,
France. *Unfortunately,
these letters are in Sutterlin Schrift. Although my German is pretty good,
I can't decrypt it.*
Would someone be able to help me?
