Hello, dear Edgar,
Good to hear from you !
Now, about the "List of Repatriates from Southern Bukovina" : I strongly
believe these are the people who left Czernowitz in April 1945.
I know for sure that Hedwig Brenner, her husband Gottfried and her mother
-in-law Paula left in spring 1945. She told me a lot and wrote about it.
I know for sure that Paul Antschel, Dr. Yakob Silbermann and Edith Horowitz-
Silbermann ( under a false name Lili-Natalia?-Schauer ) left in April 1945 .
She described it vividly in her autobiography .
Our friend and list member Henry (Heinrich) Sinnreich with his parents and
may be other family members are on the list. He can hopefully confirm it.
My dear Erica Stier with her parents ( Dr. Stier Gabriel) left for Romania
soon after they came back from Transnistria (Djurin).
I found other familiar names : Clara Medilanski ( with child), Rita Pistiner
( wife of socialist politician Jacob Pistiner). May be I will discover more.
Many thanks for your work.
Take care!
Best wishes from Haifa,
Irene

Dear David,
KUDOS to you for calling to mind this magnificent resource and sharing the
relevant links with all of us. Although I was up to date with this
digitization project, I lost sight of it and it's you who sent the reminder
at exactly the right time. Besides additional data concerning my uncle
Maximilian Hauster, who perished in Auschwitz, the volume of data is
overwhelming. For instance I excerpted a "List of Repatriates from Southern
Bukovina" and posted it at our Ehpes Blog:
http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=10902
This list comes from World Jewish Congress London (London n° 1087) and
displays – in more or less alphabetical order – about 3,500 (!!!)
repatriated persons from Southern Bukovina, no date, no list of
nationalities, but most likely all of them Jewish. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT
THERE, WHO MIGHT TELL US MORE ON THIS LIST? Is it connected to the list of
“Repatriates at the USSR/Romanian Border – March/April 1946” which I posted
at:
http://radauti.blogspot.com/2009/12/repatriates-at-ussrromanian-border.html
David, you told about yourself that you are "a silent list member, son of
late Charles ROSNER from south of France", but let me empasize that your
contributions are nevertheless extremly precious, like for example the
memoirs of your father, "EMANCIPATION - Are you (also) from Czernowitz?",
published (in French AND English language) as Book of the Month, March 2016,
at our Czernowitz Book Corner:
http://czernowitzbook.blogspot.com/2016/03/emancipation-etes-vous-aussi-de.h
tml
Thank you once again for your dedication, stay healthy, stay safe and Chag
Sameach to you and all!
Edgar Hauster

Hi Everybody,
I am a silent list member, son of late Charles ROSNER from south of France,
and "nephew" of late Edouard WEISSMANN from Berlin... well... both from
Czernowitz of course, and that you certainly remember.
I would like to share something with you, something I have been planning to
explore for a while, following an article I read on "France Culture", my
favorite media (public radio).
It is wider than just our beloved Czernowitz, but contains probably highly
interesting information for most of us, regarding the destiny of our
families.
It is about the Arolsen archives giving free and public access to all of
their persecution archives, now that they have scanned everything they have,
and linked the documents to every person's name, birth dates, prisoner
number, etc.
It is just amazing ! 850 000 documents about 10 million persecuted people !

And now the link to the archive itself :

It is in German but you change the language to English top right.
Kind regards and Happy Pessach to everyone,
David ROSNER.
