Van der Veldes book "Die Vollkommene Ehe" was in nearly every assimilated Jewish household and all secrets about ovulation etc. easily available.
On every Pharmacy's shield on the street Olla Gumm (leading condom mark) was exposed.
They appear on old fotos too. Olla Gummi, a trade mark of a preservative was synonyme in that part of Europe for condom.
