Dear Joe,

I am pretty sure, that this photo was taken at the „Viktualienmarkt“ (later on Ferdinand-Platz, todays Vul. Bakrushyn) looking north at Austria-Platz. With the ongoing growth of the city, the market went further south and buildings were raised at this field. At the back of the photo you can clearly mark out the cupola of the dome on the right side, the building in the middle is the backside of the Landesverwaltung/-regierung (regional government) and the tower on the left has to be the tower of the town hall. The photo has therefor been taken before 1888, because of the missing third floor of the Landesverwaltung. _But_ I do not know, what those small building on the right might be, the bigger one might be the house at the corner to Spital Gasse…

Any other suggestions?

Best, Benjamin
