Dear Yohanan,
This is quite extraordinary, thank you for sharing. For me the data stock is not new, but that it is now accessible not only to historians, but also to the general public, i.e. also to us, is just amazing. The Czernowitz Oblast Archives Records contain 36,864 images on 27 microfilm reels, consisting of digitized documents of the Czernowitz police and security authorities from 1941-1944.

We, primarily those of us who speak Romanian, will have to think about how to analyse the material. I think that first of all we should look for lists, lists, lists. At a very first glance, just an example of image 96-99 of microfilm reel 1, i. e. the war (WW1) invalids registered in Czernowitz. What was it about in Januray 1942? The signatories, Dr. Hermann Schärf and Iosef Blum, sent a memorandum to the Governor of Bukovina requesting that the war invalids be spared from wearing the Yellow Badge. Answer from Corneliu Calotescu, what would you have expected: No!
