Czernowitzers...

>From Bärbel Rabi, Chief Editor of „Die Stimme“ we learn that the World Organization of Bukovinian Jews is in advanced talks with Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (K.K.L) to establish a resting place in one of the largest forest in Israel, the forest of Ben Shemen, with a large plaque commemorating the Jewry of Bukovina. The plaque will have a link directly to the website for more information about where Bukovina is located and what happened to the Jews there during the Holocaust. The resting place, which invites with benches and tables to a cozy picnic under shady trees, will then be frequented by young families, hikers and cyclists, who may have never heard of the area "Bukovina" before and so perhaps get a first impression of the special area and its people at that time.

But what will today's Bukovina look like if Putin and his invaders succeed in placing it under a Russian "protectorate"? The editorial deadline for the March issue of the „Die Stimme“ was before the horrific events in Ukraine and therefore Bärbel Rabi points to the following open letter from Russian scientists:

Respect for the courage of these scientists who oppose Putin's war of aggression! Thank you, dear Baruch, for sharing "Die Stimme" with me!
