Memorial Plaque placed by the Jews of Czernowitz on the wall of the ruins of the Temple; placed there shortly after the collapse of the USSR. “….The world-famous singer Joseph Schmidt (1904-1942) sang here in the 1910s and 1920s.”

The Bukovinean Jews of Israel remembered Joseph Schmidt in 2008 with a memorial stone at the newly opened Tel-Aviv Opera House.
