1. The most effective way to get resources to me would be to e-mail them to me as an attachment. Pictures should be in .jpg, .gif, .bmp format. If you have graphics in other formats, most likely I can handle it but e-mail me first and describe what you have.
2. Text... Almost anything will do... html, MS-Word, Wordpad, Notepad, plain text, RTF. If you're using another type of word processor, for example WordPerfect, save it in one of the above formats.
3. Personal pages... If your material would be better presented as an individual page(s) because the subject material is all linked together (story and pictures related to the story) then it probably would be better to put it on a page linked to your name. Click on 'List Member's Pages' and take a look. It can contain anything you like: bios, stories, pictures, genealogical material etc.
4. Picture Collections: There are two basic collections, Photographs (usually family or trip related) and Postcards. Each collection is sorted by filename rather than by subject, but each picture has a thumbnail that gives a pretty good indication of what the corresponding picture is about. The thumbnails should load pretty fast. If you don't want your name to appear as a contributor, just say so in an e-mail. BTW, if you're scanning something scan it in higher rather than lower resolution. I can re-process the picture or the map and bring down the file size without loosing much quality. But if the quality wasn't there in the first place, there's not much one can do about it.
5. e-mails: My e-mail address is romers@shaw.ca There are times when I may want to throw something that you've written to me, out to the list for consideration, quoting what you've written. This saves me time rather than rephrasing things. If you don't want me to do that, then please indicate in your e-mail to me that it is 'private'. If you just don't want your name used, but it's all right to quote you, tell me that at the beginning of the e-mail. That saves me asking you if it's all right. If you don't say 'private' or that you don't want your name used, then I will consider that I can quote all or part of what you send me.
6. Size of attachments: I would say keep what your sending in a single e-mail below 1 megabyte. Better to break up a large bunch of pictures and attach them a couple at a time. If you have a really large file (like some maps tend to be) then e-mail me and we can figure out what to do.
