 Fraternities march all the time,
In peacetime more so ,in war-time they are drafted,
They sing beer songs ,fight duels over ladies and are
  very patriotic.
Displaying duel scars was a big honor.
Some had doctors make scars on their face to prove valor ,
My uncle was a medicine student and had a hard time
explaining to Babe why he needed a scar on the cheek
she had to pay for : "Zi wus darf er a Narbe ?"
     Go and explain !

Hardy: Why were those fraternities marching in 1930. Wasn't that a time
of peace?
