I agree, Hardy.
As "Tevye" would say, "It's a tradition". But placing stones on top of a grave really doesn't accomplish much except to tell the next visitor that someone else showed up before he got there. So better that us Jews start a more productive tradition that would enlighten or awaken the masses.
