It has been a while since I last posted a question and I have made great progress thanks to your wonderful resources. I am still stuck on Czernowitz Jews marrying non-Jews. I found this in the diary pages of Dr. Nathan Getzler
“Around this time, a movement started in Czernowitz which recommended conversion to Christianity as the only way out and as a last ditch attempt at rescue.”
However, this pertains to the Holocaust. My relatives married non-Jews much earlier than that.
The people I am looking for are my father’s sisters.
Roberta Kranz was born in 1909 in Czernowitz married an Ivan Suchowerski and an addition to her birth metric states that she left the orthodox church in 1934. (I am also not sure which orthodox church this pertains to). I found some Suchowerskis in Czernowitz but no Ivan.
Karoline Kranz born in 1906 in Czernowitz married a Jacob Roll in 1927 and had one daughter Eric born in 1928 but in a second marriage she married a Herbert A. Heine in 1936, according to an addition to her birth metric. I found her on a list at Yad Vashem of Jews married to non-Jews.
I would appreciate any leads. I have searched on all the usual site for Heine or Suchowerski but found nothing.
