Dear Anita,

About the repatriates from Northern Bukovian who crossed the border between USSR and Romania near Siret in March/April 1946, I reported in this post:

http://radauti.blogspot.com/2009/12/repatriates-at-ussrromanian-border.html

My grandparents Elias and Marjem Hauster were also among them. I do hope you may find the list of over ten thousand entries and the continuing article by Mordechai Altshuler, equally available for download, helpful.

Warmest wishes and good luck with your research!

Edgar Hauster

Subject: [czernowitz-l] Emigration lists

I am looking for information about when my mother's family (Stern, Steren, Mandeli) may have emigrated from Czernowitz to Bucharest. I know they lived in Czernowitz in 1936 and even into the early 40's. I know there was widespread emigration from Czernowitz to Romania in 1940, 41-42, 44, 45-46. Are there any lists or other records available that might help me discover when they left?

Also are there lists of the people who received waivers from deportation from Traian Popovici or Corneliu Calotescu?

Thank you,
Anita Greenbaum-Brush
