As many of you know, Bruce Reisch and I recently updated the Proposal
to Preserve the Historical Sites of Sadgura, on the jewishgen site

. There are a number of members on this list who are descendents of
the Jewish Community in Sadgura. Several of these members have
worked for years trying to get the attention of an organization which
could lead the preservation effort of Sadgura.

One such organization is the World Jewish Congress. In particular,
the WJC Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Cemeteries in
Eastern Europe. The Chairman of this Committee is Israel Singer.

The Rabbi Yisroel Moshe Friedman, Rabbi of the Sadgura Shul in
Golders Green, England, will be meeting with Israel Singer this week.
Among other issues, they will be discussing the Shul in Sadgura.

We need your help to bring attention to our goal for the preservation
of the Sadgura Synagogue and cemetery. An e-mail campaign to Israel
Singer might help bring Mr. Singer's attention to Sadgura before he
meets with the Rabbi. Please send a short email to:

Dear Mr. Singer:

I am writing to you today because I understand that you are the
Chairman of the WJC Committee for the Preservation of Jewish
Cemeteries in Eastern Europe.

I am a member of a group with direct ties to the Jewish Community of
Sadgura. We are deeply interested in preserving its historic Jewish
sites for future generations. Today, the surviving Jews of Sadgura
and their descendants are scattered around the world. The Great
Synagogue of Sadgura is in jeopardy of ruin. The Jewish Cemetery
where the "Wunder Rabbi", Israel of Ruzhin is buried, is in horrible
neglect. Yet, some of the Jewish structures and the cemetery of
this community still stand. This is the time when we can save them.
