<x-html><!x-stuff-for-pete base="" src="" id="0" charset="">Dear Czernowitz list members,

I am seeking information on the TRICHTER family from Czernowitz. My great-grandfather Hersch Leib TRICHTER arrived in New York c.1899. Census records and his death certificate give conflicting birth dates, but it is sometime between 1858 and 1864. His death certificate lists his parents as Abraham D. and Sarah TRICHTER. His wife Taube and 6 children (5 children allowed entry into the U.S., 1 was deported due to illness) arrived in the U.S. in June of 1902 on the S.S. Southwark, and according to the manifest were going to her husband, Hersch. They emigrated from Czernowitz. I am unsure of Taube's maiden name as it is listed on her children's death certificates as Fischer, Kuss, Koss and Kohs.

I found an Elie TRICHTER from Czernowitz on the manifest for the S.S. Patricia arriving in the U.S. in July 1902. The manifest shows him/her going to a brother, Hersch TRICHTER.

There are other branches of the TRICHTER family in the U.S., and in particular I am trying to find information onSigmund Hersch TRICHTER, born 1853. I believe that Hersch and Sigmund were brothers, and I'm hoping to find evidence of that.

I am hoping to find any information on these TRICHTERS prior to their arrival in the U.S. If you have any information, or know how I can go about finding records in Czernowitz, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Rhonda TRICHTER Hawes
