<x-charset windows-1255>Dear Lucca,

While the principal interest of many of the correspondents to the group is
genealogy, this of less interest to myself and to my mother Erica. It is
not that I am not interested in genealogy - rather that our knowledge of our
family tree is so limited that it would be very difficult to start to make
wider connections.

My interest principally centres on what life was like in pre-war
Czernowitz - details of people's lives, what the town was like, shops,
Temple, etc etc. Now not many of our contributors to the group seem to have
actually lived in Czernowitz at this period, were old enough to absorb and
remember details of the way of life, and actually write to the group about
them. You are one of those who do! So Erica and I especially value your
contributions.

So please, do not take certain adverse comments to heart. We are very much
looking forward to further vignettes of Czernowitz life from you. We all
benefit from your being a "natural and compulsive writer"!

Best regards,

David

Subject: a piece of advice

Mr Levy,
I seem to offend you every time I open my mouth...so what about deleting my
messages before reading them? I don't have any intention of hurting anyone's
feelings, we have our common roots in the Bucovina that's true, but many
years have gone by and our lives continued and continued...
I was under the mistaken impression that I had joined a group of people who
are friendly and where one can utter here and there an opinion not connected
with our distant past. I am a natural and compulsive writer, and believe me,
for the few people who object to my "digressing", there a few others who
react in a friendly manner as one would to the remarks of an e-mail
co-correspondent.

I think it would be a good idea to stop writing to this group for a while...
Lucca
