Diane, the book is in German.
I see that they do have an e-mail address, and it is: hbstl_at_boell.org
I know that they issued a Hebrew version, but I haven't heard
anything about an English one. however, I do intend to call them
to-morrow and ask
For your information: the book covers Czernowitz history from its
very beginning, until the present time. There are many interviews
with people who have lived there in the "good years" before second
world war,
there are also terrible, terrible accounts about Transnistria.
I would encourage all people who live abroad to inquire about an
English edition, if there isn't one, maybe they will decide to put
out one.
   Have a nice week, Lucca.

     Thanks for the info.
I do not read German, will it still be beneficial? Do you have an
email address for them?
Also, what years does the book cover?

         Diane, I'm so sorry,
but believe me, I am trying for the last hour or so to get
the text back of my message about the Czernowitz book, but...if I
think that I am finally literate as far as the computer is concerned,
this teaches me that I am really not!
Anyway, I'll have to type this again:
         The book is called:
"czernowitz war ein Familienbegriff" published in German -
absolutely fabulous, with (black and white) photos.
The people who issued it are:
         Heinrich Boell Stiftung Tel-Aviv
         24 Nahlat Benyamin Street
         Tel-Aviv 65162, tel: 972-3-516 77 34/5
                                  fax: 972-3-516 76 89

I received it free of cost, just by telephone request. They
did not even ask for postage. However, I don't know how this works if
the request comes from America.

         All the best,
         Lucca
