Dear friends,
One day late (my fault, not Yitzhak's),
Yitzhak Rosner and I have counted the votes we received
ranking the proposals for the program of the 2007 reunion.
Few people voted and possibly this method of voting
was not sufficiently clear.
The total number of points received by each proposal is:
A 107
B 69
C 41
D 72
E 80
F 82
G 41
H 42
I 55
J 68
K 104
L 72
M 53

The 10 proposals which received the highest number of votes,
ranked in order are: A K F E D L B J N Q

Q 60
They are:
A. Lecture/lectures about Czernowitz and Bukowina,
preferably including new research, to be give by one or all
of the following:
Pro. Zvi Yaavetz
Prof. Florence Heymann
Dr.Jean Ancel
K. An evening of entertainment with actress Lya Koenig who can do sketches
in Yiddish, Czernowitz Yiddish and German and the universal language of
mime.
F. Discussion on the subject "Preservation of the heritage and the spirit
of Czernowitz and Bukowina, our contribution to future generations.
E. Discussions on the subject "What was Czernowitz and in particular
Jewish Czernowitz really like?"
D. Presentation of a family history or one of the diaries of
Bukowinians sent to Transnistria like those found at Yad Vashem.
L. Evening with Czernowitz actress Miriam Zohar.
B. Presentation by the 6-8 individual town organizations (Radautz, Dorna
Vatra, Gura Humora, etc. on their resources and activities.
J. Presentations and discussion "Czernowitz Jewish Cemetery action plan"
N. Joint meal or banquet of Bukowina style food
(if we can get someone to prepare it.)
Q. Excursion to the Galilee to visit the northern border and the
bombarded towns, followed by tree planting an area given
for this purpose by the KKL and founding a "Bukowina Forest".
Also visits to the Museum for German Speaking Jewry,
the museum "Lohamei Hagetaot" and Teffen industries where we
would meet with Steff Wertheimer.
The remaining 6 proposals; C,G,H,I,M,P, could be scheduled,
as time permits,or used as substitutes for the more highly ranked
proposals, if this should be necessary, or some may be scheduled
concurrently for small special interest groups.
These are the 6:
C. Reading by Hedwig Brenner from her book "Mein 20.Jahrhundert"
which is about Czernowitz
G. Exploration "the possibility of organizing our collective artifacts
into a permanent Czernowitz and Bukowina museum exhibit"
H. Exploration on "Helping those Czernowitz and Bukowina survivors
who would like to publish their memoirs".
I. Review of the "Czernowitz Reunion 2006" meeting - a discussion
M. Evening of Czernowitz anecdotes and jokes told by participants.
P. Visit to Yad Vashem with possibly a special presentation
about the Jews of Bukowina
On the two questions A and B, it is not possible to tabulate the answers,
But I would sum them up as follows:
A: The majority favors the possibility of two separate groups
meeting concurrently to discuss different topics.
B: The majority favors one fee for participating in the lectures,
discussions, banquet and entertainment and another fee for
excursions.
