I have just joined the list and would like to introduce myself. My maternal
grandfather, Nathan Dauber, was born in Czernowitz April 15, 1870. He
eventually moved to Budapest and married Bertha Krattenstein Krell and they
emigrated to the U.S. in 1903, settling in Cincinnati Ohio. I have his
application for a peddler's license from Czernowitz, dated 17 January 1894,
which authorized him to sell glass and porcelain items at the "market". It
also notes that he has a "military pass", and that he lived at 44 Synagogen
Lane. His name on the document is listed as Simche Nussim Fink Dauber. I
have no information about any of his family, and would welcome any comments
or suggestions to help me learn more. My paternal family research has
yielded over 500 names of extended family, but I seem to have hit the
proverbial "brick wall" on this side. I'll look forward to any help you can
provide.
