Dear All,

I would gladly participate in a Bukovina convention whenever it
takes place, whether in December (3, 10, 20), January or April. If people
are worried about the prices, January/February should be the cheapest.
I also agree that 3 days will do. I would like to have lectures dealing with
historic perspectives, personal experiences, discussions concerning
Cz/Bukovina heritage, cultural and social evenings, an exhibition of
items/books etc. I think that journalists shouldn't attend; no one should
have copyrights. Family and guests should of course be welcome, even for a
part- time participation (my wife, for instance, or my mother would love to
attend a festive opening, for instance, or a social gathering, but not all
of the lectures; I might even schlep my ancient grandfather occasionally).

I dare suggest having the convention at a Herzliya hotel and not in
Tel Aviv itself; Herzliya is very near Tel Aviv, is more easily accessible,
and is home to some fine hotels on the beach near the Marina (Daniel, Dan
Accadia or the HaSharon hotel which is a bit more modest but still very
good). The prices there should be cheaper than in Tel Aviv.
I do not think that organizing such a convention should be left to
Israelis alone on principle. Mimi did a wonderful job organizing a reunion
in the Ukraine from the US - organizing things in Israel from abroad should
be much easier (the standards of service and of answering e-mails are more
compatible with life, and Mimi speaks perfect Hebrew). An organizing
committee with people from all over would do.
Another issue I would like to bring up is the convention's language.
How many people who plan to attent won't understand Hebrew or German? I
believe that a convention in Israel would be an opportunity for many older
people who live here to come and take part. Many of them don't use the
Internet and do not understand English. What is your opinion on the matter?

In the meantime, I hope we are not heading for a regional war here due to
the latest developments in the north and in the south. Lets be optimistic
for now and go ahead with our plans.

Danny
