Greetings all,
With the permission of Jerome Schatten, I have created a page of Czernowitz
family photos and placed them on my website within the "Postcards from Home"
exhibition. The photos that appear on this page were selected from among the
good number of family photos that are now on the Czernowitz-L Discussion
Group website (pre 1945 Czernowitz Photographs). Please visit the webpage
and see what I have done with it. All the photos are in thumbnail form, but
if you left-click on each, you will see the full image. The names of those
who had originally placed their family photos on the Czernowitz-L site are
listed under the photos, and many of the captions provided with these photos
have been included. Of course, for those whose photos I have chosen to use
on this page, I am most grateful. I have properly added your names to my
Credits and Acknowledgements page. If you have any objections to my use of
your photographs, or find any errors that need to be corrected, please let
me know.
I am hoping that those who chose to view this webpage will enjoy seeing
these photos as much as I have. I imagine that some who are not members of
our group will see these photos too, most likely for the first time. Perhaps
they will be from Czernowitz and be able to recognize some of the people in
these photos (who up to this point have remained unidentified.)
Also, a link has been created on the Ukraine/Postcards from Home Town Search
page for this Czernowitz page under the title "Czernowitz Family Photos."
The big project was to list all of the ninety different surnames of the
people in these photos on my Surname Search page. There is one master
surnames page for all my Postcards from Home photos, and also four separate
ones, broken down by letter groupings (first letter of surname), e.g. A-F,
etc. Perhaps someone will recognize a surname and contact me for more
information. Of course, I will be all too happy to pass the contact
information onto the Czernowitz group or the individual who is associated
with the particular photo.
I am very thankful to all of you who have allowed me to include these
precious family photographs in my exhibition. I hope to see some of you at
the August conference.
