My preference would be in Haifa since that is where my relatives are, but
I'd guess that Tel Aviv is where most CZ-BUK Isrealis are. In Haifa, the
Holiday Inn is superbly located, would be reasonably priced BEFORE pesach,
and I'd be happy to deal with them if Haifa is the choice. Haifa is also
VERY train-accessible by the TLV residents who just want to come to the
meetings and sleep at home.
In Tel Aviv, the Dan hotels, the Crown Plaza and several others have
excellent facilities but in the US$150+ range, a little more expensive than
the Cheremosh... Regarding a meeting place, perhaps someone has a unversity
connection, or a synagogue connection, or a senior center connection which
would be reasonably priced - like free of charge ? Projection equipment in
IL is a snap as are computer facilities.
Regarding Yad Vashem, the way to get there from Haifa is train and from TLV
train or bus. The current train is very slow because the route dates to the
Ottoman empire but the new route will be very fast. Despite the slow speed,
the ride is wonderfully interesting through some fascinating country.
Since the choice of location is the important first step in setting up the
meeting, lets respond to Mimi promptly so this can be nailed down. I
suggest that the Israelis make the choice of location and us foreigners go
where they decide.
