Dear Alan and All,

I think it should be called a Bukovina cookbook. In 1998, I organized a
luncheon of
over 35 Kastner/Dalfen/Ostfeld women cousins in Montreal. Besides having a
terrific
time, we talked of typical Bukovina recipes.

At that time, I had the idea of putting together a small cookbook of these
recipes, but
in spite of the initial enthusiasm, it fell short. I'm sure that any
recipes that the
Kastner/Dalfen/Ostfeld women would have given me (from Radauti), would have
been
typical of Bukovina, in general.

The most expert Bukovina cook would be Klara Pesate Ostfeld, who lives in
Caracas,
Venezuela, with homes in New York City, Stowe, Vermont and Tel Aviv as well.
Klara has written several recipe books, beautifully illustrated. I have one
of them,
which has been translated into English.
